Tuesday's Racing Update (27th September)

1:44 Ayr -

United Approach ran well on debut. Doesn't have the best stats sto (21%) but sets a fair standard. No value at odds. There looks little between Shine's Ambition and Rez. The former has run a number of times but a consistent sort. Always a slight worry at some point will regress. A straightforward horse who looks to have more pace that Rez and could well lead. This 6f is much faster than Pontefract which may see another close finish and could even favour Fell's runner. After six losses you do have to imagine there is some limitation. Quintus Arrius is well owned, cost a lot of money. The stable doesn't have so many debut winners late season but they can win up to 18/1. Not the worst stats 10/1 and less sp but best at 7/2 and less. Downtown Dubai was behind Rez last time when relatively fancied in the betting. but faded tamely after leading. I has been given a class 2 stakes entry. On performance you'd have to think it has little hope unless it disappointed last time out which is a possibility although, perhaps, clutching at straws. In conclusion, a tricky looking race. I'd be looking for value and Shine's Ambition may well have a fighting chance at fair odds but really a race to leave alone.

6:00 Wolverhampton -

Spartan Arrow cost a lot of money and ran in a strong race on debut. Has very high win and place stats if 7/1 and less sp. Definitely worth an ew bet if prices allow. A good looking horse who should show more today. James Tate field New Definition who has a string of group entries and a talented horse. No doubt trying to take advantage of this lower class. The type of horse to put up a challenge. Appointed One doesn't look to be one of the better horses for the stable but will appreciated stepping up to 6f after finding the minimum trip too fast last time out. Paddy's Day is another talented juvenile dropping in class. Has a good few group entries and definitely no forlorn hope. The only horse I would bet here is Spartan Arrow ew (just because the stats are so good) but in truth I would be fearful of taking on a number of talented horses who may well defy the penalty. There will be easier races to win.
