8:00 Sandown On the Gallops (19th May) BETVICTOR BREEDERS BACKING RACING EBF MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 5) (3-4yo)
An EBF Maiden Stakes over 1m 2f 7y on good to firm going. A massive field of seventeen three and four-year-olds. I'm not going to beat about the bush and have narrowed this race down to one horse. I'm sure you must enjoy my approach! As usual, I can't tell my reasoning because that would be against the rules. So which horse has registered on the Ritcher scale? Regicide catches the eye for James Fanshawe. I must admit I rate this trainer and this three-year-old gelding, a son of Achipengo should have sold win and place claims. Racing in the familiar silks of Chris Van Hoorn Racing, this bay cost 65,000G at the yearling sales. He was relatively fancied on debut when priced 8/1 and finished runner-up giving the impression there is much more to come. In some respects, this race is a step up in class as his racecourse bow was at auction class. I would rather bet each-way on this horse than straight win. However, the betting at this time is 3/1. We either hope he drifts in the betting or just go for the win. On this rare occasion, I would suggest that if you cannot gain an each-way price I'd be tempted to go for a win bet [fingers crossed]. If this gelding happened to drift markedly and beyond 13/2 & less SP I would take a watching brief. I think this is unlikely to happen but I do like to keep you informed as it doesn't pay to take anything for granted.
